Former NFL Scout with the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, and Green Bay Packers

MIAMI — Tom Braatz, who worked for 38 years as an NFL executive and scout, including the past 11 with the Miami Dolphins, announced his retirement Friday.

Braatz began his NFL front-office career with the Atlanta Falcons in 1965 and spent 22 years with them. He was executive vice president of football operations for the Green Bay Packers from 1987 to 1991, then joined the Dolphins in 1992 as director of college scouting.

Born May 12, 1933 in Kenosha, Wisconsin Braatz is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, Los Angeles Rams, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960 NFL Expansion Draft. He played college football at Marquette University and was drafted in the fourteenth round of the 1955 NFL Draft.
