Draft Rewind 2003 – Asante Samuel – Atlanta Falcons

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ASANTE SAMUEL: Central Florida, 5106 185 4.49. Former safety. Moved to corner as a sophomore. Two year starter. Has adequate height but is slender with short arms. Not real muscular or strong. Good athlete. Shows good press coverage technique. Decent in his backpedal. Gives a little too much cushion at times but he reads receivers moves well and does a nice job of playing the ball. Aware in a zone. A little sluggish in his turn and run — can lose ground — has decent makeup speed but isn’t a real blazer. Adequate in run support — is physical for a corner his size but isn’t a form tackler. Solid special teams player. Has kick blocking ability and is an above average punt returner. Originally drafted by New England.
