What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about BJOERN WERNER: Florida State, 6032 266 4.81. Junior entry. Two-year starter. ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2012. Not a natural pass rusher, but a technique savvy, tenacious, and disciplined one. Violent hand use. Productive the past two years with 23.5 sacks and 29 tackles for loss. A fast twitch and relentless player who impacts the timing of a quarterback. Explosive off the ball and has a burst to the quarterback once he sheds the blocker. Innate ability to create big plays. Gets his hands up in the throwing lane. Plays low to leverage the blocker and set the edge of the defense, however will come up and play high at times. Question flexibility. A native of Berlin, Germany. Still learning the game – only played two years in high school. A combination speed and power rusher who can play the run. A Rob Ninkovich, Kyle Vanden Bosch type. Eventual starter who will need developmental time. 2012 stats: 42 T, 18 TFL, 13 sacks, 8 BB, 1 FF, 1 FR. Edge speed:left 1.96, right 1.87. OSR:18/23. First round. (A-33 1/4, H-9 5/8, BP-25, 10-1.69). CAMP NOTES: Bjoern Werner is not a natural pass rusher, but a technique savvy, tenacious, and disciplined one. He will be working to make the transition from a four man front defensive end to a 3-4 outside linebacker. During OTAs, the Colts have been working with Werner to play out of a four point stance and burst up the field. The four point stance keeps him low and he comes out instead of up. A fast twitch and relentless player, he is still learning the game.
