Draft Rewind 2011 – James Carpenter – Seattle Seahawks

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JAMES CARPENTER: Alabama, 6046 313 5.28. Two-year starter. Junior college transfer from Coffeyville (KS). Gave a perfunctory effort in his play at Alabama. Beat on inside slant moves. Missed backside cutoff attempts. Got leveraged back to the quarterback when he lost his knee bend. Played top heavy at times and was not always in balance. Average athletic ability and strength for the position. Lacks explosiveness and violence in his hands. Better than average when he locks out and mirrors the defender and slides his feet in pass protection. A wall off blocker. Was impressive at times in the Senior Bowl practices. Gave the effort to hustle downfield after his initial block. Took good angles to wall off on the second level. Finish was inconsistent at Alabama and the Senior Bowl. Has some physical tools, but the technique is missing or he doesn’t use it. Long arms and big hands. OSR:27/49. Fourth/fifth round. (A- 34, H-10 1/8, BP-23, 10-1.83).
