With the 90th East-West Shrine All-Star game coming up on January 17, 2015 we thought we would look back on the 2014 squad. A remarkable total of 73 players are currently on NFL 53-man rosters or practice squads. An additional six players were either drafted or signed as free agents and have since been released. Twenty-four players have started at least one game. Three of them – ROT Justin Britt (Seattle), ROG Zach Fulton (Kansas City), and CB EJ Gaines have started all sixteen games. Buffalo’s Preston Brown (LB) has started 14 games and collected 109 tackles. Justin Ellis (DT) has started 13 games for Oakland. Zach Kerr (NT) has 3 sacks for the Colts. Nineteen players were undrafted free agents and landed on 53-man rosters. One notable UDFA wide receiver is Jacksonville’s Allen Hurns. He made 51 catches for 677 yards, 13.3 yards per reception, and 6 touchdowns. Playoff-bound Arizona’s third round choice John Brown snatched 44 passes for 645 yards, averaging 14.7 yards per catch with 5 touchdowns. Two UDFAs, Marcus Williams (CB) of the Jets, and Jeremiah Sirles (OT) of San Diego started games but were not invited to the Combine. A total of 25 of the 73 were not invited to the Combine.
