Brian Hartline to the Browns

What?

WR Brian Hartline SIGNS with Cleveland

Why?

There may not be a team in the NFL that needed a WR more than the Browns did entering free agency.  If Josh Gordon were in the picture they would have still made a move for Hartline.  Without him, the urgency to bring in the sure handed, efficient route runner was extremely high.  Hartline brings a versatile skill set capable of playing either outside spot and the slot.

What’s Next?

With two first round picks in the top 20, I still expect the Browns to go after a WR.  Hartline is a solid hands catcher that can get the tough receptions brought in over the middle, but he won’t scare anyone.  His yards per reception have declined every year since 2011.  For him to maximize his value, there needs to be an outside threat.  Expect Cleveland to add another pass catcher or two.
