Antrel Rolle Heads to Chicago

What?

S Antrel Rolle SIGNED by Chicago

 Why?

As we discussed earlier, Chicago came in to the offseason needing a complete makeover on defense.  All three levels lacked talent and depth.  The draft will be big for them as they mold this unit the way John Fox and Vic Fangio want, but no matter where they go it is essential to have veteran leadership manning the ship.  Rolle is a versatile defensive back that is fully capable of playing in the box on one play, and dropping in to deep-half coverage on the next.  His leadership and intangibles will go a long way but he is more than an on-field coach, he still has some quality play in him.

What’s Next?

The Bears are far from being done.  They will make plenty of moves on the defensive side of the ball.  This may make Alabama S Landon Collins a lesser likelihood in the draft, but expect them to still look towards that front seven with the dearth of pass rushers and defensive line talent.
