Draft Rewind 2005 – Chris Spencer – Chicago Bears

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHRIS SPENCER: Mississippi, 6027 309 5.24.  Junior eligible. Full time starter for one year. Started parts of his sophomore year. Athletic, quick center with raw skills. Has done both shotgun and conventional snaps. Keeps a good base and is a natural knee bender. Leaks through to the second level and walls off linebackers. Has outstanding foot quickness and active feet. Can position and steer defender. Quick to redirect. Locks on but has inconsistent finish. He just doesn’t know how to play yet. Will overextend and drop his head on pass pro at times. Goes to the ground. Needs technique and mechanic work. He has most of the position skills that the great ones have: quick and nimble feet, agility and body control, lateral quickness, natural knee bender, athletic in pulls, reactions, quick set in pass pro and run block on the move. Additionally, he shows visible snap when delivering a blow. Flashes a stunning punch at times. Second or third round talent. Originally drafted by Seattle.
