The draft’s first pick, Eric Fisher, drew positive comments during mini camp and OTAs, despite his position move to right tackle. Branden Albert will man the left tackle position in 2013. Fisher impressed the coaches by his quick study and field application of his technique. His work ethic and desire to learn was top notch. The athletic tackle prospect has long arms and big hands along with the physical tools to be a top level performer on Sundays. Physical, focused, and competitive, he is a natural knee bender with good leg drive and strength to control defenders. Travis Kelce led the Bearcats in receptions with 45, averaging 16 yards per catch. He did not work out at the Combine or play in any all-star games due to a sports hernia. He is a people mover as a blocker. Brother Jason is the starting center for the Philadelphia Eagles. Experienced in the slot or on the end of the line of scrimmage, he moves well with good balance. The big man has good vertical speed and snatches the ball in his reliable hands. Knile Davis is expected to contribute in several different ways as a kickoff returner, running back, or a receiver. A physical specimen, he is big, fast, and athletic. That’s the good news. The bad news is that he has serious durability and ball security issues. In our opinion, he is one guy who could have used another year to stabilize his roller coaster career. A bender/weaver type runner, he runs tall. He is a size and speed prospect with inconsistent skills. Nico Johnson is scheduled to back up Derrick Johnson and contribute on special teams. He is experienced in the 3-4 defensive scheme. A two down linebacker, he needs to work on his ability to play in space and improve as a pass coverage linebacker. Johnson hesitates on his pass/run reads. He uses his hands well taking on and shedding blocks. Sanders Commings is a cover two press type corner with size and speed. He will compete with Sean Smith, another big corner, on the right side. Coming downhill is not a problem for the big safety look-a-like. Many times he looked like a linebacker playing defensive back. He matches up well with tight ends and transitions well for a big man. He has loose hips where he can turn and run. Eric Kush has good arm length but needs more core strength to take on the big bull rushers. On the Division II level he was a dominant player who used technique and hands well. A developmental player, he did not look out of place in the East/West Shrine game. Braden Wilson is a third guard type fullback with long arms and big hands. A willing and productive lead blocker, he has average speed. He is an aggressive contact player that will hunt up his target and wall off. During his career he carried the ball 44 times and caught 18 passes. Mike Catapano was the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year. He has long arms and big hands to ward off blocks and pressure the quarterback. He has good first step get off and hustles all over the field. In the pass rush he gets his hands up and is not easy to block. He has good footwork and quick reactions to gain leverage. Pro physical development is needed, but he has a good athletic position skill level. GRADE: AVERAGE.
