Draft Rewind 2012 – Chandler Jones – New England Patriots

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHANDLER JONES: Syracuse, 6053 266 4.82. Junior entry. Three-year starter. Very athletic with a long rangy build. Graded out third of 25 ends who worked out at the Combine. Missed five games after suffering a knee injury in the first game against Wake Forest. Before he was injured he made five tackles and 1/2 sack. He has two brothers who are professional athletes – Arthur Jones, a defensive end who plays for Baltimore, and Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, a UFC fighter. Flashes first step quickness and can close down laterally on inside runs. Takes good crossfield pursuit angles. Flies around the field looking to make plays. Can walk an offensive tackle back and rush the quarterback. Gets his long arms up in the air and bats passes down. Needs to get stronger in his upper and lower body. Has a frame to gain good weight. Fought pressure better in 2011 than he did in 2010. A size and speed prospect with inconsistent skills, but a unique set of tools. Injury history may influence his draft status. 2011 stats: 38 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 2 FF. Edge speed:left 2.13, right 2.40. OSR:3/25. Second/third round. (A-35 1/2, H-9 3/4, BP-22, 10-1.70).
