Draft Rewind 2008 – Wesley Woodyard – Denver Broncos

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about WESLEY WOODYARD: Kentucky, 6003 227 4.55. Three-year starter that has made over 100 tackles three years in a row. Productive. Long arms and good speed. Projects to a weak side 3-4 linebacker. Needs more bulk on his narrow frame. Good initial reactions. Good read and react. Uses hands well attacking blockers. Leads with hands and is explosive attacking blockers. That being said, he struggles to shed. Plays a little high at times and can be knocked upright on contact. Usually had good leverage and has the ability to work off a block, keep moving and locate the ball. Keeps working to the ball and is intense in pursuit. Not dynamic in change of direction, but was OK to redirect off a block and has some toughness. Physical attacking in the pass rush. Bull rushes well and keeps feet moving. Lacks great escape, but has good technique. Took good drops but did not break to the ball very well and is stiff to turn. Does a lot of things technically correct and has a good motor, however he lacks ideal size. A top effort guy that is around the ball a lot. OSR:9/52. Fifth/sixth round. (A-34 5/8, H-9 3/4, BP-DNP, SS-4.26).
