Draft Rewind 2008 – Jamaal Charles – Kansas City Chiefs

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JAMAAL CHARLES: Texas, 5110 200 4.38.  Junior entry. One year as a fulltime starter. Was an underachiever before his junior year. He’s all about speed. Bounces the ball to the outside. Dangerous in space. Track guy playing football. Michael Bennett type. Plays in a spread offense. Not a creative runner. Bender/weaver type runner. Needs more upper and lower body strength. More straight line. Struggles to beat the first tackler. Ball security is a question. Generally gets what’s blocked. Question running instincts and inside vision. Screen off type blocker. A small framed runner with a slender lower body. Struggles to hold on to the ball in close quarters and on the goal line. A complementary back that would be a change up from a power feature runner. Not built to hold up physically to an NFL type pounding. Productive his junior year with 1619 yards and 18 touchdowns. Caught 17 passes for 199 yards. Will catch the ball outside his frame. OSR:8/33. Third/fourth round. (A-32 1/8, H-8 3/4, SS-4.24, BP-DNP).
