Draft Rewind 2013 – DJ Hayden – Oakland Raiders

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about DJ HAYDEN: Houston, 5111 191 4.44. Two-year starter. Junior college transfer from Navarro College. Started the first nine games before suffering a season ending tear of the inferior vena cava in his heart from a freak collision in practice. Demonstrated good athletic ability and foot quickness. Can drive and snap off quickly. Quick break on the ball. Good change of direction and hip flexibility. Speed is not a question. Has a quick burst and acceleration speed. Demonstrates catch up and closing speed on a receiver from the other side of the formation or on kickoff coverage. Sweet feet. Quick in backpedal. Keeps his butt down. Can stay in pedal as long as possible. Smooth out of pedal to all route angles. Good stop and go quickness. Flashes the ability to adjust for a difficult interception. Knocks down catchable balls. Has dropped some potential picks. Plays with confidence. Sticky in coverage. Durability is a major question. Should be an eventual starter and contribute on special teams. Ran once at pro day, then pulled hamstring. Had a broad jump of 10 feet. 2012 stats: 61 T, 3 TFL, 9 PBU, 4 INT, 1 FF, 1FR. Medical exclusion at Combine – sternum injury. Second/third round. (A-31 3/8, H-9, VJ-33.5, SS-DNP).
