Senior Bowl & East-West Shrine Game Quarterbacks

Garrett Grayson – Colorado State

Senior Bowl

Bryce Petty (Baylor) – 6030, 230. Question pocket awareness. Inconsistent feet and downfield accuracy. Question decision making. Everything is new coming out of a spread system. Will need to learn how to read NFL passing progressions. Must have a clean pocket. Shane Carden (East Carolina) – 6020, 218. Inconsistent mechanics led to sporadic accuracy. Needs work from under center as do most spread formation quarterbacks. Generally keeps his cool in pressure situations. Uneven footwork is a problem. Carder is a developmental talent. Sean Mannion (Oregon State) – 6050, 229. Played in a pro scheme in college. Good overhand delivery. Good touch on the ball with good ball placement. Slides easily in the pocket. Has the size and presence of a pocket passer. Average escape ability from pressure. Bryan Bennett (SE Louisiana) – 6030, 215. A late addition when Nick Marshall went over to play corner instead of quarterback. Struggled during the week with misreads and missed targets in practice. Has decent arm strength but is erratic. Raw skills. Needs help with his footwork. Garrett Grayson (Colorado State) – 6020, 215. Somewhat mechanical but showed good game accuracy. Slides laterally in the pocket. Good decision maker in limited exposure. Has decent arm strength and timing to throw the deep routes. Blake Sims (Alabama) – 5110, 223. Was recruited to Alabama as a running back. Quick to flush out of the pocket and scramble for positive yards. Can set up then quickly reset as needed. Accuracy off. Can throw the ball deep. Best in boot and roll out passes away from the pocket.

Taylor Heinicke – Old Dominion

East-West Shrine Game

Anthony Boone (Duke) – 6004, 238. Inconsistent week of practice. He possesses good athletic ability and a strong arm, but is inaccurate throwing down the field. Must have a clean pocket. Has a long delivery. Taylor Heinicke (Old Dominion) – 6011, 211. The best quarterback during the week on both teams, but struggled with high passes and ball placement in the game. A good short and intermediate passer. Good ball placement and anticipation. Hutson Mason (Georgia) – 6021, 207. Was the steadiest in the game, hitting on 7 of 8 passes for 71 yards and directing the East offense to its only touchdown. A smart camp type quarterback with good touch. Lacks deep velocity. Cody Fajardo (Nevada) – 6015, 222. Played in the Pistol formation in college and never took a snap under center before Shrine week. He is a work in progress. Taylor Kelly (Arizona State) – 6015, 198. Worked the pocket well during the week. Accurate on short and underneath routes. Good field vision when the pocket is clean. Throws the ball on the run. Dylan Thompson (South Carolina) – 6021, 223. Struggled with accuracy during the week. Has adequate arm strength but needs to process information quicker.
