Draft Rewind 2014: Joel Bitonio, Cleveland Browns

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft about JOEL BITONIO: Nevada, 6042 302 4.95. Three-year starter. Plays left tackle but projects inside to guard. A highly competitive athlete who fought the decorated Florida State ends to a standstill. Good lateral quickness with the ability to redirect. A physical player who shocks the rusher with his punch. Seals the inside gap from penetration. Uses his hands well. Plays with a good base and knee bend. Strong on down blocks. Good initial get-off into his target in the run game. Quick enough to seal the edge. Good arm length and hand size for the position. Lacks the ideal length to be regular left tackle. Senior Bowl notes: played left tackle for Nevada and worked at both left guard and left tackle in the Senior Bowl. May be better suited as a guard in the NFL. Noticeable improvement in his technique, effort, and production as the week went on. Willing to put his face down the middle of a defender and give good effort working his feet to finish blocks. Some problems with speed and quick counter move pass rushers. Above average initial quickness and explosive power as an inline drive blocker. Impressive playing traits, especially his compete and toughness. OSR:3/40. Second/ third round. (A-33 7/8, H-9 5/8, BP-22, 10-1.76).
