Draft Rewind 2010 – James Starks – Green Bay Packers

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JAMES STARKS: Buffalo, 6021 218 4.52. Three-year starter. Upright power runner that is a good athlete. Long strider with long limbs. Good vision. Downhill zone runner with cut back ability. Plays in the I-formation. Missed the 2009 season with shoulder injury and surgery. In 2008 was third in the MAC conference in rushing with 1333 yards and 16 touchdowns. Missed 3 games with injuries. Catches the ball in his hands. Has 127 catches in three years. Must be schemed to turn the corner. Lacks the top end speed and burst. A bender/weaver type runner in the open field. Picks up speed as he goes down the field. Lacks an explosive first step. Ran a 10.8/100 meters in high school where he played quarterback. Needs technique work as a pass protector and blitz pickup. Needs to bend and anchor better. Durability is a big question mark, especially for a running back. In his career he rushed 698 times for 3140 yards and 34 touchdowns while catching 127 passes for 898 yards and 3 touchdowns. OSR:9/28. Fifth/sixth round. (A-33 3/4, H-9 1/2, BP-15, SS-4.27).
