Why?
Peyton Manning has always loved to use the tight end as a focal point to the passing game. He doesn’t need the best athletes, just someone that can run good routes, get in and out of breaks, and shows toughness over the middle. Daniels lacks the superstar label but he is the perfect match for the Manning system. While he is no Julius Thomas when it comes to ability and talent, he can be just as productive minus the abundance of red zone touchdowns.
What’s Next?
It’s been a curious route for thr Broncos as they head towards the 2015 season. The finances caught up to them, not being able to sign Thomas which is understandable. Everything else aside, Denver knew that a reliable, experienced player like Daniels could help keep this unit near the top of league rankings. It looks like the Broncos will be set at TE entering the draft, but their most pressing needs will still reside up front along the offensive line.
