 Why?

If Carson Palmer is going to lead the Cardinals back to a NFC West-crown-chasing season, he needs to stay upright AND needs to have an effective rushing attack.  The talent is there for the Cardinals.  They have multiple downfield threats but they are much easier to defend against when the offensive line can’t hold on to their blocks.  Iupati comes over from a division rival and will change the demeanor of that group right away.  His mammoth size and strong upper body controls defenders on contact and he is rarely a guy that needs help from a fellow blocker.  He will prove much needed security.

 What’s Next?

 The Cardinals have one of the top defenses in the league and their most important personnel pieces will return.  If their offense can simply perform more efficiently by controlling the line of scrimmage, their talent will be incredibly hard to defend.  They have a lot of options now and this move takes some urgency away from potentially reaching for OL talent in the draft.
